why is everyone scared of beauty?

Posted in: Philosophy

"we fly to beauty as an asylum from the terrors of finite nature." - emerson.

beauty ought to be a source of security and hope, yet it appears everyone is scared of it.

just because it's objective doesn't mean it's scary.

What is it that leads you to suspect that everyone is scared of beauty?

How would you respond to quotes such as "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" which deem beauty as a subjective preference (rather than an objectively identifiable phenomenon)?

leibniz: i was basically joking when i wrote this. i was referring to the fact that at the time of writing no one had responded to my previous blog.
qualitative: read my previous blog "beautiful assumptions." i sort of deal with your question there.
